This is the group photo from the 2008 Linux kernel summit, as taken by LWN editor Jonathan Corbet. There is a professionally-done photo in the works which will become available eventually; until then, this will have to do.

Considering this, why do you think it offensive if a male dominated group is (clearly as a joke) described as "gay party"?

This is the best picture ever because the organizer of the photo has every spread out enough to see EVERYONE's face. No blocked 1/3 faces. It highlights how everyone works together.
